Wizard of Oz - Winged Gorilla - color variation.

I didn't see why an imaginary half primate, half bird animal couldn't have a striped coat.

Wizard of Oz - Winged Gorilla - Color

I don't usually do a black and white and then color overlay, but it does give things a nice painterly quality.

Wizard of Oz - Winged Gorilla

I just saw a trailer for the new "Oz the Great and Powerful" and was inspired to come up with some winged monkey designs of my own. Color and variations to come.

"Pepe and Lucas" short film.

Hi Everyone! After a year of work, BrainZoo Studios is proud to present our new short film "Pepe and Lucas"! We even made the long list for the Academy Short Films category! I was lucky enough to work on this project almost uninterrupted as art director, lead concept artist, and storyboard artist. Working on a story from start to finish was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I've had as an artist and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this project.

Concepts and storyboards to come soon!

Still finding the sketchbook paper a little trick...

Breaking in a new sketchbook! I love the bleeding effects of the new paper and the new texture really brings out some of the brush strokes, but it stays wet so much longer. Gonna have to watch that.

One eye left.

Playing around with more brushes. Kind of a mayan style John Carter inspired painting.

Jan 29, 2012 El Matador: The Return

El Matador is a place of mystery and wonder. Why is every painting there good? Inquiring minds want to know.

Dec 18, 2011 Swtizer Falls.

We didn't make it to the falls, but the vista was amazing and the lighting was crazy. So crazy, that it changed every couple minutes. These paintings are pretty small. I was hoping that I could keep up with the light, but a combination of sunset and settling fog just made it impossible.

Dec 11, 2011 Lower Arroyo Seco.

Lower Arroyo Seco. Actually, it's right on the other side of Hahmongna Park.
