Wizard of Oz: Winged Gorilla

I liked bringing in black next to the red and yellow as feathers below, but it covers up the body paint a little more than I like on the shoulders. The feathers on the shoulders also give the character a more aggressive warrior look and I'm shooting for just hunter - before enslaved by the Wicked Witch.

I saw a picture of a hairless gorilla, and it seemed a perfect match for leathery bat wings. I designed this character not as the Wicked Witch's henchman, but more like a hunter gatherer of the deep dark jungles of Oz.

Wizard of Oz - Winged Gorilla - color variation.

I didn't see why an imaginary half primate, half bird animal couldn't have a striped coat.

Wizard of Oz - Winged Gorilla - Color

I don't usually do a black and white and then color overlay, but it does give things a nice painterly quality.

Wizard of Oz - Winged Gorilla

I just saw a trailer for the new "Oz the Great and Powerful" and was inspired to come up with some winged monkey designs of my own. Color and variations to come.
